Last week I had skipped the ‘Friday on the Backyard Farm’ post to go take the kids shopping and get their hair cut.

We got a lot done! I had called a couple of hair places before we left and made arrangements. We ended up going with Great Clips that was an hour away. The joys of living in the country 😀 . Actually the hair place we usually go to is closed..hopefully only temporarily.

The lady was real nice at Great Clips! She let us check in before we left the house. When we got there we had about a fifteen minute wait (which isn’t bad!). After that we got the boys new outfits and shoes for school!

The boys will be alternating between going to school and virtual learning. One week they go to school, the next week they stay home. This way all the kids aren’t in school all at once. It’ll be interesting. More to come on this subject I’m sure! 😅

This week we had a chicken pass. I’m sad to report it was Gretel. She was one of our oldest chickens at 5 years old! She is also the chicken that had walked backwards. I’m not sure what caused her death but I could tell at the end she wasn’t feeling well since she was standing off to the side not eating or going into the coop at night. I brought her in, gave her electrolyte water, but she still ended up passing. It’s hard to tell what is wrong with a chicken. Since not much research is done on them. None of the other chickens are ill or acting funny, she was the only one. I don’t know if maybe it was old age? 5 years old is a good age for a chicken. I have read that they can live up to 10 years and sometimes a little longer.

I’m getting together my update video on the green house and our vegetable plants. I’ll have that posted next week! I did make a video on the chicken passing. See the video below. I’m also going to post pictures of my toe nail I had lost 😨, but I’ll post that at the WAY bottom! 😅

Besides the chicken passing, BB8 (our buck) has created a hole in the fence. He detached the fence from a post a long time ago. Jacob took a board, patching the hole with it. Well, BB8 decided to break the board in half. However, he can’t fit through the hole but Yoshi (our wether) can! Seems like something always needs to be fixed.

My toe is healing quite nicely! I’m going to post a picture of it at the bottom of this page! It doesn’t look as bad as when it first happened. If you didn’t read my previous ‘Friday on the Backyard Farm’ post, I had hit my pinky toe on the door which resulted in me losing half my toe nail! 😱 OUCH!

Are you ready to see the pictures!?

It is not pretty!

You have been warned! 😀

This first picture is what my toe looked like last week! That is below.

Below is my toe today! Yes my foot is ashy. Looking at this photo and the top one, I’d have to say the toe nail has grown a lot! I was outside and thought hey I need to take a picture for your guys 😆.

Now lets look at a cute baby chick to get the image out of your mind!

I have been soaking my foot in warm water with epsom salt. I think that has helped with the healing. Hopefully I’ll have a full toe nail on that toe soon!

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!
