Recently our family was given already made pancake mix. However, we had no syrup! 😱 No one felt like going to the store. Then an old recipe came to my mind! This recipe has been tucked away in my recipe box for a long time! I learned this in home economics class many years ago! The recipe is super simple but only make it when almost all pancakes are ready. If you make this before you are ready to eat, the mixture will harden and no longer be liquid!

Do NOT make this before cooking pancakes. Make it after and when you are ready to sit down and eat.

Homemade Syrup

Simple syrup to make for pancakes, waffles, etc.
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Warm Water

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients into the pot.
  • Boil for 5 minutes, whisking/stirring occasionally.

Notes

Once done boiling, don’t let it cool down too much before putting onto pancakes.  If it cools, mixture will thicken.  If it thickens too much, you can add a little water and reheat to get it to a liquid consistency.
