I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I can’t believe today is the last day of 2021.
Below is a picture of our gingerbread house…the tube of icing exploded literally. First pic to the top left is how it should look and the rest…well you know…
We got gifts for some of the animals. Cheese the chicken got a diaper. The diaper is black with white polka dots. She didn’t like it at first but after a little while she seems to have adjusted. We literally got it last night, next ‘Friday on the Backyard’ post I’ll do an update on the diaper š.
The boy and girl goats both got a hay feeder. I had been looking at them for a while on Amazon. Each bag was about $60. However, I was able to grab two at Tractor Supply for $38 each. Looks like their website now has them for $41. We can put hay in there, sling over the fence, pull it back over and refill and not have go into the goat pen. We’ve been using them for a couple of weeks and so far so good. The material seems to be high quality and sturdy.
Our drake is once again limping! After he seemed like what was a full recovery for several days, one day he is limping again. I’m wondering if he twisted his leg or foot in the pen. I remember putting him up at night, him walking fine, and then the next day limping. However, his limp is not as bad as it had been before. If I figure it out, I’ll let you know. I had looked over his foot and leg, didn’t see any obvious signs of injury or bumble foot. š¤·āāļø It’s a mystery!
I started to learn crocheting. I’m in the beginning-beginning stages! Below is a picture of my first links! I’m working on making a square pad out of it. I don’t know how far I’ll get but just wanted to share my link picture. A while after taking the picture, I got up, started to walk and I noticed the purple yarn following me. My WHOLE link unraveled. Now I learned to leave the crochet stick in it to hold the links’ place AND to put the bunch of yarn where it won’t roll off. š Lesson learned!
I did obtain a small sewing machine from Wal-Mart for $16. Funny as I had looked at it last month and I think it was on sale for $25-$28 dollars. Sometimes waiting to get something pays off! Either it can run off AA batteries or you can get a AC/DC adapter for it. I’m not planning to do anything fancy, I actually have a big sewing machine that was owned by a lady that was a serious seamstress, hence where I got the crochet stick š . The sewing machine is so fancy I don’t even know if I’m threading it right (which I think I am but I can’t get the needle to go down into the fabric). There are so many knobs, levers, etc. so I got this little one to work with and get back into sewing.
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend! We will see you next year! š
