I LOVE making these for the holidays.

  • 4 Cup Bread Flour
  • 1/4 Oz Yeast Pack
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Stick Butter or 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • Bake at 375 for 14 minutes 😋

I put all dry ingredients into a bowl. Then I put the eggs on top.

I warm the butter in the microwave for about 10 to 20 seconds only to soften it. Be careful warming the butter too much! You don’t want it to melt. If the butter becomes a little runny, that is okay!

I heat the milk in the microwave. I put it in there for 1 minute.

I pour the milk onto the other ingredients. Then I knead everything together and knead the dough as long as I can. I try to knead it for about a couple of minutes. If you can go a few minutes longer, that would be great! The more you knead the better they come out. If you can knead up to 10 minutes that is probably ideal!

If the dough feels too dry, you can add a little bit of water. I usually never have this problem!

Once the dough is kneaded, it needs to be covered. I think a lot of people use a warm damp cloth. For the first couple of years making the rolls, I used to cover with a damp cloth. Now I only use cling wrap. This has worked fine for me! Just make sure the wrap is on there tight and clinging to the container. If it’s not clinging, just make sure it stays shut. Sometimes I like to curl the edges of the cling wrap and stuck into the side of the bowl.

It’s ideal to place the dough in a warm spot. Since I don’t have many places to set mine, I put mine on the stove top. It’ll stay warm as I’m cooking things in the oven.

Allow the dough to rise a minimum of an hour or a little longer is fine. After an hour, we split the dough until we make little 24 balls. I made a picture below. The top circle is the dough. You split the dough into 2. Then take each piece and split into 2 again. Then when you have 8 balls, those will be split into 3 little balls!

Line a casserole dish with the balls. I do 4 balls down and 6 acrossed. I have posted a picture below of the balls. I reform the balls, making them centered in the casserole dish and each ball is touching the other one.

Once again cover with a warm damp towel or cling wrap. Allow them to rise for an hour or a little over.

This picture is a lot better! 😊

After an hour they are ready to go into the oven 375 for 14 minutes! Tops should be golden brown when ready to come out of the oven. To make even more yummy, melt butter and brush on top of the cooked rolls!
