The plants keep growing! We’ve lost a few and others are ready to be transplanted into a bigger pot. We’ll be working on that soon. We actually also ordered a small greenhouse which is due next week.
The nesting boxes that Jacob has been working on are just about complete! He has been doing finishing touches.
I’ve seen some hens check it out. I think they are going to be happy once we get the straw in there.
Since our last “Friday on the Backyard Farm” post we have gotten chicks! 14 chicks in total: 6 isa browns, 2 jersey giants, 2 dark brahmas, 2 silver laced wyandotte, and 2 gold laced wyandotte.
Future plan for these “hens” (fingers crossed they are ALL hens) is to put them in with Henry and his gang.
Right now Henry has three hens with him. Sometimes a few others will go in there, but usually it’s just the 3 hens. The coop had started out with 20 chickens but because of predators it has just come down to those 4 chickens.
Not really too much more has been going on. I did buy a small pool for the pekin ducks, which I will be setting up soon! Hopefully the weather will stay nice for a few days!
