Chicken and Pastry or Chicken and Dumplings? 🤔 They are pretty much the same! Pastry is long, flat dough. Dumplings are dough balls. Both delicious 😋.
- 3 Cups Chicken Broth
- 2 Cups Chopped Cooked Chicken
- 1 1/2 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Cup Warm Water
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Mix Flour and Warm Water, making it into a dough. Flatten out the dough. I like to make long strips and cut in half to make 2 inch strips. They will shrink while cooking. I prefer pastry because dough balls can take a little longer to cook, depending on the size.
Bring Chicken Broth to a boil on medium high heat. Put in chopped chicken and add pastry/dumplings.
You will need to boil this for 10 to 15 minutes, occasionally stirring. The broth will boil down, soaking into the dough and chicken.
You can add salt and pepper. Since I make my own bone broth, it’s already seasoned. Some times store chicken broth needs a little salt and pepper. 😀
