I thought I’d start a new series of posts of what we have been up to! Sometimes there’s a lot going on. Sometimes there’s not much.
First of all I hope everyone is doing well. There is so much going on right now with covid. It really has affected a lot. I work at home but my hours have been reduced surprisingly. I have been working a few hours and using PTO to cover the rest. Yikes. I’m glad I had stored away so many vacation hours but it stinks that I can’t use them for vacation, but I’m grateful that I have it. I know a lot of people are struggling right now. Besides, joining in the hunt for toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, and other paper products, it’s been a little hard to meal plan. I used to cook a chicken almost every week but all the chickens have been sold out. We have bought a huge turkey, ham, potatoes, and took the extra and freezed it. We are once again buying a lot of ground beef. I’m doing meatloaf, hamburgers, spaghetti, tacos, casseroles with it!.
I have frozen ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, cut up potatoes, ham broth, and ham bone. I have never frozen anything like this before! So stay tuned, I will let you know if it comes out freezer burnt. LOL Wish me and my family luck!
Our boys have turned into homeschoolers. This has been a crazy journey since they are doing school work online and the teachers are hustling to get things together. Jacob and I are trying to stay on top. I haven’t told my boys, 🤫but they are not being graded on this work. Supposedly, they are going on the previous grades.
School might get a little more crazy as my youngest son has speech and occupational therapy. The therapist wants to do online sessions. I’m not sure how that’s going to go or what the exercises will consist of.
The second week of April, a car hit one of our ducks, Brownie 2.0. Fast forward to today, she has been doing well. She is missing almost half of her foot but she can get around. I’m in the middle of processing a video that has an update of her. Don’t forget to subscribe to our youtube channel!
Our seeds have been sprouting into cute little plants! Can’t wait to plant them in the ground. We might end up planting them in bigger containers first! Our truck is still down since there has been such CRAZY weather here in Virginia! Hot, cold, rainy, windy, storms. All we need is snow since this year we hardly had any which is odd. 😅
That was all of the exciting news. Now for the bad news:
We had another duck, Quackers, get hit last week, but tragically succumbed to her wounds. She had gotten hit almost a year ago but made a fully recovery. This is one of the down falls on free ranging.
We caught our goat Snow Nugget bullying our other goat, Hazelnut last week. I think one reason they are not getting along is because Snow Nuggets baby, Eggnog, broke his leg. When that happened we had to keep them separated from the other goats for weeks until he healed. Hopefully, it was a one time thing but we will keep a close eye on them! 🧐
